Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions business owners ask us most.
Will an enquiry affect my credit score?
No. Your initial enquiry and our eligibility checks use a soft search only, which is not visible to other lenders and does not affect your credit score. A full credit search is only carried out with your permission once you decide to proceed with a specific lender.
How much can my business borrow?
We arrange facilities from £10,000 up to £2 million, and larger amounts on a case-by-case basis. The amount available depends on your turnover, trading history, affordability and — for asset finance — the value of the asset.
How quickly can funds be released?
Many applications receive an indicative decision within hours. Once approved and the paperwork is signed, funds are usually released within a few working days. Larger or secured facilities can take longer, and your account manager will give you a realistic timeline from the outset.
What is the Growth Guarantee Scheme?
The Growth Guarantee Scheme (GGS) is a government-backed programme delivered through the British Business Bank. It gives accredited lenders a 70% guarantee on eligible facilities from £25,000 to £2 million, with terms of up to six years. Your primary residence cannot be taken as security.
Can you help businesses with poor credit or a limited history?
Yes. We work with a broad panel of lenders, including specialists who look beyond credit scores at the strength of your business today. Start-ups and businesses with adverse credit are considered.
Are you a lender or a broker?
Both. PFC Commercial Finance arranges funding through its panel of lenders and can also fund certain deals directly. Either way, your dedicated account manager will explain exactly who is providing the finance and on what terms before you commit.
What documents will I need?
Typically your last six months of business bank statements, your latest filed accounts and, for larger facilities, management accounts and forecasts. For asset finance we will also need a supplier quote or invoice. Your account manager will confirm exactly what is needed.
Do you charge a fee?
Any fee is always agreed with you in writing before you proceed. We may also receive a commission from the lender, which will be disclosed to you.
